Our History

Located a stone’s throw from Good Shepherd Church,  one of the most beautiful church’s in Northern Manhattan, The Garden Café was built from scratch, wall to wall, with intentions to help beautify the neighborhood. The once dirt -filled garden space was turned into an outdoor oasis .

Serving Brunch, Lunch & Dinner daily, with a vast selection of Wine & Bottled Beer, The Garden Café is a place with a neighborhood feel & is very easy to go to ANY day of the week. The Garden Cafe patio is enclosed during the winter months .

Elegant interior and design

The Inwood section of upper Manhattan has had numerous restaurant openings in the last few years, mostly Latin cuisine or pub style offerings. But the Garden Cafe is a wonderful change of pace–a great place to dine with friends any time of day.

The outside is deceptive–narrow, cute exterior–but then you continue to the garden patio in the back with a wonderful enclosed area with trees and umbrellas when shade is needed and soft lighting in the evenings. It’s a great place to linger–the staff never rushes individuals or groups.

High-class professional service

The wine and beer offerings are sophisticated and extensive–and on a hot summer day, the white sangria is very welcome.

The brunch offerings are as fine as anything offered downtown–grand Marnier French toast, Belgium waffles with fruit, virtually any kind of egg dish or wrap, and a great apple/chicken/walnut salad over greens.

Excellent various menu

The staff is friendly and very accommodating, in our case going out of their way to place umbrellas strategically at our request on a bright, hot day, and explaining/suggesting various menu items.

Even the Angus burger is as good as the special pub/burger places in the area.

Prices are comparable to the rest of the neighborhood and very reasonable, especially considering how long guests can stay without feeling rushed. The interior is narrow but comfortable and can accommodate smaller groups and individuals.
